COACH|ROBBIE JONES

Hi there!! , thank you for connecting with myself and Palm Hearts Online Coaching.

My name is Robbie Jones, originally from Sandton Johannesburg, I now reside in Devils Peak Estate Cape Town and have been in this beautiful city for nearly 20 years now.

I  completed my level 2 coach-specific training through Star Leadership, an ICF - accredited training provider based in South Africa (International Coaching Federation (ICF).

I also hold a Bachelor of Social Science Honours degree majoring in psychology, which I acquired through the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP) in Claremont Cape Town. Before specialising in life coaching, I also worked part-time as an addiction’s counsellor in a rehabilitation centre in Cape Town and facilitated group therapy sessions.

So what originally led me into this incredible sphere of Psychology first and then on to specialize in life coaching would most definitely be my own life experiences, trials and also triumphs so far as a very “imperfect” human being. After seeking help and seeing a life coach online myself, I was able to dig deep and re-connect with my true self again mentally, physically and spiritually. With that fresh lens I was able to gain clarity, get a vision, get creative and map my own journey forward towards it. I started getting things done. It felt like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders and I was able to move on from a life of feeling rather stuck, lost and uncertain about the future. It was without doubt the most incredible, empowering and sustainable experience. It was definitely where the seeds that I get to harvest today were once planted.

I am here for you now! I want for you to have your own experience because the life coaching journey is something to be shared and definitely not to be kept secret and that is a core motivator for me.

So far, I have coached clients from various different contexts around South Africa and also Australia and have aims to continue to share the incredible experience of growth, one heart at a time!

I look forward to meeting with you soon,

Cheers for now, Robbie.

“Robbie’s unwavering dedication and compassion have been instrumental in my growth” Tyrone R, Johannesburg, RSA

Life Coaching by definition is the partnership between myself (a trained Coach) and you (The client) in the undertaking of a thought-provoking and creative process that aims foremost to assist in inspiring you to maximize your personal potential.

The process is fundamentally designed to facilitate the creation of your personal goals, then develop and carry out a plan for achieving them. At its core though, life coaching is about empowering you to discover the potential that already exists within you. Then flowing with the momentum that comes with that.

Unlike seeing a therapist for example, who commonly focuses on problems and the healing or coping of emotional issues from the past. Life coaching, of course, acknowledges your past story thus far, but is a more forward thinking and solution-focused process. As your life coach I aim to assist you in connecting with yourself, getting creative and then to start achieving. The process is definitely one of curiosity, creativity and encouragement for you to self-reflect, gain new insights, become more self-aware, grow in confidence and take action! One of the most key aspects of coaching to note is that rather than myself providing you with my advice, I aim to empower you to think creatively and source your own solutions and that is what really makes the personal breakthroughs meaningful and sustainable.

Why Online Coaching?

We live in a constantly evolving world, especially regarding technology, and within the coaching sphere this is no different. The traditional face to face or in-person methods of coaching have been made to expand a little over time by the emergence of remote or online coaching. As a coach, I believe as we look to the future, it appears to be a more all-round convenient solution for both coaches and clients alike.

3 fundamental advantages of online coaching:

Flexibility:

Clients are able to have their coaching sessions from anywhere in the world, doing away with any limiting geographical barriers. Whether from the comfort of home, during office hours or during travels. The flexibility that online coaching provides has become an important factor for client’s, allowing them to be consistent and stay committed to their journey without interruption.

All-round saving:

With financial budget’s being as tight as they are for many today, this is arguably one of the biggest benefits the online space provides. The travel costs to-and-from a physical practice are eliminated for clients in addition to the time it can take out of one’s day to attend a session. From a coaches’ point of view, the running costs are also severely lower and therefore the coaching rates are too, it’s really a win-win in that way.

Post-Pandemic Relevance:

There has been an increasing importance of remote coaching in the post-pandemic context via Zoom. Whether we have embraced it yet or still warming up to it, new personal and work norms post 2020 are now embracing a more virtual option to an  experience. Life coaching is no different, this new direction stands out as a an effective way to consistently meet any evolving needs clients may have, especially in times where there may be surrounding uncertainties within society.

Many may think that Life coaching will be a straightforward problem-options-strategy-action exercise. Some others may think it’s just seeking out professional advice on a problem. This is not exactly correct. Transactional or surface level services can be utilized, yes, but transformational coaching is not that form of service, it is a much deeper and meaningful undertaking than that.

A form of life coaching, The transformational coaching approach is one that transcends traditional coaching methods by the manner in which it primarily invites you to delve into your identity and the processes that drive your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Essentially, who you are as an entire “being”. Embrace your true self first and the rest is sure to follow.

The transformational approach to coaching at its core is aimed at self-actualization. It holds hands with approaches such as holism, Ontology and Integrativity. This approach looks to assist you in coming to a reflective understanding over your current perception of reality, the choices made and the actions taken as a consequence of that current perception. This approach believes that ones “being” are the seeds to ones doing, and one’s doing stems from one’s being.

How we as human beings “show up” each day is deeply rooted in certain aspects of our “being”, such as our thinking, language, emotions, also our physical behavior and presence. In essence the transformational Journey is one of rising above self-condemnation and then growing into our true self-empowerment.

The International Coaching Federation defined it well in stating that:

“The transformational coaching journey is a circuitous path driven by the energy and emotions of the coach and the client. The outcome a transformational coach seeks for their clients is the growth of new neural pathways that can replace self-limiting habits with productive ones.  Self-awareness is both the catalyst of the journey and the foundation to which the client can return again and again for motivation and direction “ – ICF
